Dog Training FAQ
Our trainers are 100% committed to the use of science-based Positive Reinforcement Training techniques. Please see our statement on why we choose to use Positive Reinforcement.
- All dogs enrolling in Day School must be fully vaccinated and current on their rabies, DHPP and bordetella vaccinations, according to RPR requirements.
- Clients must also enthusiastically agree to be an active part in the training program with their dogs and understand that they will need to practice the skills introduced in Day School at home. Please see our Training Agreements for more information.
Drop off is between 7 and 8 am. Pick up is between 4:30 and 6 pm. You should expect pick up to take around 15 minutes as your trainer will give you a progress update as well as go over homework.
On non-school days, the goal should be a total of 30 minutes of training time, spread throughout the day. Multiple short sessions are better than long ones.
Each week, clients will receive feedback on their pup's progress in addition to video-guided homework assignments. We will be using Google Classroom to ensure you stay up-to-date and have all the needed information. You will be able to contact your trainer through Google Classroom (Monday through Thursday) for support and guidance. Additionally, the weekend following the end of the term, you will have a 30 minute private follow-up session with you and your pup to review progress and cover future goals.
Day School dogs need to be comfortable being in the vicinity of other dogs who are kenneled nearby. If your pup is reactive or becomes anxious in busy environments, Day School would not be a good fit and could make those responses worse. A better option would be our in-home Private Training.
